Is LongHorn Open on Holidays? Here’s What I Actually Found Out

LongHorn Holiday Hours,So a few years back, Thanksgiving morning, I convinced everyone we’d skip cooking and just go to LongHorn instead. Great plan. We get there and… nothing. Lights off, lot empty, doors locked. Nobody told me. That’s basically why I started keeping track of their holiday schedule, because I was not doing that again.

If you’re wondering whether they’re open for Christmas, New Year’s, or whatever holiday you’ve got coming up, here’s what I’ve learned. Some of it the easy way, some of it not.

Two Days They’re Just Closed, No Exceptions

This is the big one, so let’s get it out of the way.

LongHorn closes on Thanksgiving. And Christmas Day. Every location, not just a few random ones. It’s a company thing — they shut it all down so the staff actually gets those days off with their own families, which, fine, makes sense. Didn’t make sense to me at 6pm on an empty stomach though.

So yeah. Don’t plan a trip there for either of those two days. Cook, order somewhere else, whatever — just not LongHorn, not that day.

LongHorn Holiday Hours,Christmas Eve Is Open… Sort Of

Here’s the thing nobody mentions. They ARE open on Christmas Eve. But it’s not a full day. Most places close early, like around 8pm-ish, because staff need to get home for their own Christmas stuff too.

I learned this one the hard way too (are we noticing a pattern?). If you want dinner there on Christmas Eve, go early. Don’t book anything late — kitchens start winding down before the actual closing time, so a 7:30 reservation is cutting it closer than you’d think.

LongHorn Holiday Hours,What About Everything Else?

  • Honestly, outside those two days, it’s pretty normal. Regular hours, sometimes even a little extended if it’s busy.
  • New Year’s Eve — usually normal hours, sometimes a bit later.LongHorn Drinks Menu
  • New Year’s Day — totally normal, actually kind of a great day to go since half the other restaurants are still closed from the night before.
  • Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day — no changes really. Been there on all three, never had an issue.
  • Easter — open, though Sunday hours can move around a little depending on the location, so worth a quick check.
  • Mother’s Day — open but PACKED. This one gets busier than actual holidays sometimes, no joke.LongHorn Secret Menu
  • Black Friday — completely normal. Good chance to get that steak you missed on Thanksgiving.LongHorn Menu Items

Mistakes I Keep Making (Or Made, Anyway)

Assuming every single location runs the same hours. They mostly do, but ones in malls especially can be different because they’re stuck following the mall’s schedule, not just their own.

Not thinking about weather. If you’re somewhere that gets hit with snow or storms, hours change fast and it’s got nothing to do with the holiday calendar at all. Lost a whole dinner plan to a snowstorm once, completely unrelated to any holiday thing.

Showing up right before closing and expecting a full meal. Kitchens stop taking orders before the doors actually lock. If it’s close, just call first.

Underestimating the “smaller” holidays. Everyone thinks Christmas and Thanksgiving are the wild days, but Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day genuinely bring in more people a lot of the time.

After that first Thanksgiving fiasco I stopped guessing. Here’s what I actually do:

  1. Pull up their site’s location finder — punch in your zip and it shows hours for your actual nearest spot, not some generic company page.
  2. Or just call. Takes two minutes, and you get a real answer from someone who’s literally there.
  3. Google Maps works too — usually reflects holiday changes, and sometimes other people leave notes about it.
  4. If you’re ordering delivery, check the app itself. DoorDash, Uber Eats, whatever — if it shows as available, it’s actually open right now.

LongHorn Holiday Hours,One More Thing

If you’re planning to go around a busy stretch like Thanksgiving or Christmas week, just go a day or two before or after instead of right on the edge of it. Kitchen’s calmer, wait’s shorter, food’s honestly better too when nobody’s slammed.LongHorn Dessert Menu

You don’t really think about holiday hours until you’re the one standing in an empty parking lot with a hungry family in the car. Once you know the pattern though — closed Thanksgiving and Christmas, early close on Christmas Eve, pretty normal everywhere else — it stops being a guessing game. A two-minute call before you leave the house saves you from doing what I did.

Nope. Basically every location shuts down so staff can be home.

Also closed. One of only two days the whole chain closes, company-wide.

Early — usually around 8pm, though it can shift a little by location. Worth calling first.

Yep, normal hours. Honestly a good, low-stress day to eat out.

Extremely. Sometimes busier than actual closed holidays. Get there early or book ahead if you can.

Locator on their website, or just call. Hours can vary a bit by city.
